The ICLCS MSP proposes that the adoption and application of computational and visualization tools in chemistry classrooms, combined with treatment in content, pedagogical and leadership development areas in a sustained, supportive environment, will reduce teacher isolation, promote enhancement of pedagogical practice and leadership activities, and thereby result in improved student achievement in chemistry content areas. Summer treatment includes whole-cohort learning and discussion sessions; hands-on group sessions with computational and visualization tools; group work on unit development with faculty support; and individual exchanges with faculty, ICLCS staff and other teachers on tool usage, chemistry content and pedagogical challenges. Active use of the interactive web portal for communications and resource sharing ensures continuity of treatment capacity outside of summer academies, workshops, and other on-person contact.
