5. Conclusions
Our results have led us to the realization that shifting teachers' understanding of the content of secondary mathematics can impact teachers' images of learning and ability to create improved learning in their students. However, if teachers' curriculum does not support conceptual and inquiry based learning, modifying curriculum requires support from knowledgeable mentors and focused time to devise and refine classroom lessons. Supporting teachers in learning to focus on student thinking can have a positive impact on teacher questioning and student learning. In this session we will describe our findings and focus on how our findings informed the development of our classroom and PLC instructional supports.
