  1. It was expected that, as an outcome of the pre-service teachers' participation in the research apprenticeship program, they would have a better understanding of the science and mathematics content and processes, and would be able to incorporate activities that promote discovery, inquiry and research in their teaching practice.

  2. It was also expected that researchers and research assistants would benefit from having future teachers in their research team due to their education background.

  3. It was anticipated that as a result of the pre-service teachers' participation in the assistantship program, they would develop academic capabilities, especially regarding MS content knowledge and content-specific pedagogy.
